Urge NJ Legislators to Protect New Jerseyans from Dangerous Barriers to Healthcare
The New Jersey State Senate currently has a bill, S3051, that establishes guidelines for health insurance carriers concerning step therapy protocols. These protocols, known as ‘step therapy’ or ‘fail-first’, are instituted by health insurance carriers to require patients to try lower-cost medications on a carrier’s formulary before they can access treatments that their health care provider prescribed. The bill introduces standard exemptions, appropriate clinical review criteria, and a transparent exception appeal process into these protocols.
Send a letter to your state senators asking for their support on this bill to help New Jerseyans living with diabetes and other chronic conditions.
NOTE: The New Jersey State Assembly passed A4815, the companion bill, on March 25.
